The Pioneer Valley Backyard Chicken Association (PVBCA) was created in May 2008 as a way to connect folks who raise and keep chickens on a small scale in their backyards. Many of us keep chickens for eggs and entertainment while others raise them for meat or show. Some of us reside in snug cities while a few of us are living the country life. What we all share however is the desire to actively participate in producing some of the food we eat.
Although most members live in and around the Pioneer Valley of Western Massachusetts, the group is open to anyone with an interest in backyard chicken farming. Some of the group's features include our member forum, in person 'chicken chats', a chicken sitter list, workshops, children's programs, and private consultations.
